Nanna Bülow Mertz has enjoyed a highly successful career in the financial sector – something she didn’t expect as a creative young person with an interest in architecture. She started out as a Student Assistant at Danish investment bank Saxo Bank, and quickly found that the work ‘was fun and felt right’. Her first full time position saw her working under a visionary female boss, who set her on the path to successfully navigating a male-dominated environment, while staying in her feminine energy.
Since then Nanna has held leadership positions including Global Head of Onboarding at Saxo Bank, leading a team of 500, and her current role as Head of Customer Operations at Pleo.
In this conversation Nanna shares:
- Her experiences of working in male-dominated environments – and how she’s navigated crying at work
- Why she’s learned to honour her intuition in the workplace
- How she’s found trying to balance career and parenthood amid structural inequalities
- Her observations about women demanding too little at work – and her advice on how we can value ourselves more highly and ask for more.
